Meeting Role Script: Toastmaster of the Day
Toastmaster of the Day
[Shake hands after being introduced.]
“Good evening fellow toastmasters and welcome guests. Thank you for joining us tonight. As Toastmaster of the Day, my role is to act as host for the meeting. That includes keeping us on time, based on the agenda.
There are three parts to our club meetings: prepared speeches given by members; table topics, which is an opportunity to practice off-the-cuff speaking, and guests are welcome to participate; and evaluations which help us all become better communicators and leaders.
We have several helper roles to make the meeting successful. They will each describe their role."
[Introduce each helper role in turn, based on the agenda, and lead the applause before and after each. Remember to shake hands.]
"Now it's time for the prepared speeches!"
[Introduce eah prepared speech, based on the agenda and introductions provided by the speakers. Lead the applause before and after each. Remember to shake hands. After each speech, limit comments about the speech to keep the flow going.]
"To lead us through the Table Topics portion of the meeting, I'd like to invite [name of Table Topics master] to the stage."
[Lead the applause and remember to shake hands.]
"Now it's time for the evaluation portion of the meeting. Please welcome our General Evaluator [name of GE]."
[Lead the applause and remember to shake hands.]
[Get voting results from Ballot Counter and decide who will win the Shining Star award.]
[After GE re-introduces you, return to the stage to announce the winners.]
"Let's find out who won tonight!"
[Announce Best Speaker, Best Table Topic, Best Evaluator, and Shining Star awards. Present Ice Breaker candy awards to anyone who gave an Ice Breaker speech. Remind award recipients to stay at the front of the room for a winners photo (the Toastmaster of the Day also participates in the photo).]
[Turn the meeting over to the next person based on the agenda.]
